Bishop Obinim Slashes Anointing Oil Price By 90% Ahead Of April 13 Anointing Service

/ Green oil drops from GH¢1,000 to GH¢100 as viral video sparks social media debate

Founder and leader of the International God's Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has made headlines once again after announcing a 90% price slash on his popular anointing oils ahead of a special church service scheduled for Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Bishop Obinim reduces anointing oil price ahead of a major spiritual service to boost attendance

During a live church service, the controversial preacher revealed that the GH¢1,000 green anointing oil—previously reserved for church members who paid premium offertories—will now be sold for just GH¢100 to allow greater access for all congregants.

Bishop Obinim explained that the oil had always been distributed based on members’ financial contributions:

“Those who pay the GH¢1,000 offertory and sponsor our TV programme, the oil we give them comes in green. GH¢500 gets the yellow one, and GH¢200 gets the blue,” he told an excited crowd.

However, in an apparent bid to make the spiritual item affordable for everyone, he declared:

“For this anointing service, I want to use the GH¢1,000 oil. So I will reduce it to GH¢100 so everyone can afford it.”

Viral Video Sparks Reactions

A video of the announcement has since gone viral on social media, drawing mixed reactions from the public. While some of his followers applauded the price reduction as a generous gesture, others criticized the commercialization of spiritual items.

“Is this church or business?” one X (formerly Twitter) user questioned.

“At least he’s giving people access to what they believe in at a lower cost. Let’s be fair,” another commented.

Bishop Obinim is no stranger to public scrutiny. He has frequently been accused of staging miracles and fabricating prophecies to maintain influence and grow his congregation. Nonetheless, his loyal base continues to support him, both spiritually and financially.

The upcoming anointing service, now accessible to more members thanks to the price drop, is expected to draw large crowds. The church has not clarified whether the reduced price is permanent or a one-time promotional gesture.
