Tensions rise between NPP and NDC as MP faces possible arrest following explosive claims of money laundering and drug trafficking
Joy News has confirmed that operatives of the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) on Wednesday, April 9, stormed the residence of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South and Ranking Member of Parliament’s Interior and Defence Committee, to execute an arrest warrant.

This major development was first corroborated by New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, who took to Facebook to announce the attempted arrest.
“N.I.B is currently at Hon. Ntim Fordjour’s residence to arrest him,” Kodua posted.
His comments were echoed by NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, who also confirmed the presence of NIB officials at the MP's home on the same day.
The attempted arrest appears to be in connection with allegations recently made by Rev. Ntim Fordjour, who claimed in a press briefing that two aircraft that landed in Ghana were allegedly involved in money laundering and illicit drug trafficking.
He called on the government to launch a full investigation into the suspicious activity and address the nation on what he described as a potential national security threat.
Responding to the claims, government spokesperson Felix Kwakye-Ofosu dismissed Rev. Fordjour’s statements, labeling them as "false and misleading."
He clarified that the aircraft in question had only landed due to minor technical issues and that there were no criminal activities involved.
“These were routine landings for legitimate purposes. Any claims of illegal activity are completely baseless,” Kwakye-Ofosu stated.
The revelation has deepened the already heated rivalry between the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), with both parties trading accusations of political intimidation and abuse of power.
Some security analysts and political commentators have urged the authorities to interrogate Rev. Fordjour over the claims, while NPP officials argue the arrest attempt is part of a larger political agenda to silence opposition voices.
As of now, it remains unclear whether Rev. Ntim Fordjour has been detained or if legal proceedings have formally begun.
