Accra’s Peace FM morning show descended into chaos on Wednesday, April 23, as Yaw Asani Tano, the National Organiser of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), and James Kwabena Bomfeh, former CPP General Secretary, clashed on air during a live panel discussion.

The heated confrontation, which was captured on video and has since gone viral, began when Kabila accused Asani Tano of frequently switching political parties—a claim that enraged the outspoken LPG politician.

"I will beat the hell out of you for the foolish things you keep telling NPP members about me," Asani Tano fumed.

Kabila, visibly stunned, tried to defuse the situation but also fired back, referencing past support he allegedly gave Tano.

"I once had to give you money to buy your medication."

This remark only intensified the tension. Asani Tano responded with a barrage of insults, referencing allegations made by others and accusing Kabila of spreading false claims about his mental health.

"Who the hell are you? You've been drinking alcohol for a long time, and it has stunted your brain's growth."

"You are a fool! I will beat the hell out of you!" he yelled before the video abruptly ended.

The incident has sparked widespread debate online, with netizens split between condemning the conduct of the two politicians and expressing concern over the public weaponization of mental health issues during political disputes.

Many commentators are calling on the National Media Commission and Peace FM to issue a statement on the incident, citing the need for professionalism and civility in public discourse.

Meanwhile, mental health advocates are urging political figures to avoid using mental health as a tool for public humiliation or political point-scoring.
