The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has praised the skills and innovation of Kudu, a young Ghanaian mobile phone repair expert whose work recently went viral on social media.

In a statement, the minister said he was highly impressed after watching several viral videos showcasing Kudu’s outstanding mobile phone repair techniques.
“Earlier in the week, I was inundated with videos of his sterling work on a mobile phone. I reached out to him and was pleasantly stunned by his depth of knowledge and ability. Ghana is truly blessed,” George stated.
Following a personal engagement with Kudu, the minister revealed that President John Dramani Mahama’s government has extended a formal offer to collaborate on a youth tech training initiative.
“After engaging him, I have made him an offer on behalf of the government of H.E. John Dramani Mahama to partner and offer training to many more young Ghanaians,” George announced.
He further disclosed plans to run a specialised training programme through the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, in partnership with Kudu’s firm, Malfred.
The planned programme will focus on advanced mobile repair and technology skills, equipping Ghana’s youth with job-ready, future-proof expertise.
“This would allow him to transfer knowledge at scale and help position Ghana as a truly technology-diverse country. I look forward to a truly mutually beneficial partnership. For God and Country,” the minister said.
The announcement has sparked widespread excitement on social media, with many Ghanaians applauding the government for recognising grassroots talent in the tech space and providing meaningful support to nurture it.
This initiative is part of broader efforts by the government to transform Ghana into a regional hub for digital innovation, tapping into homegrown talent to fuel economic and technological advancement.
By empowering skilled individuals like Kudu, the government aims to bridge the tech skills gap, enhance digital inclusion, and foster youth entrepreneurship.
