A shocking incident unfolded at the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Secondary School in Bantama, Ashanti Region, on Friday, April 4, 2025, when a student accidentally discharged a firearm on campus, leaving two students injured, one critically.

According to school sources, the incident occurred during break time when Bernard Amoabeng, a Form Two student, brought a gun to school. A dispute reportedly broke out among a group of students about whether the gun was real or functional. In a disturbing turn of events, Amoabeng attempted to prove it worked by allegedly firing the weapon, resulting in injuries to two fellow students.

One of the victims, Penamang, suffered a severe gunshot wound to her forehead. She was initially rushed to Kwadaso Hospital but was later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for advanced medical care due to the critical nature of her condition.
The Suame Police Command has since arrested Bernard Amoabeng, and a full investigation is underway. Authorities are working to determine how the student accessed the firearm and what measures were overlooked that allowed such a dangerous weapon onto school premises.
