In a Facebook post on April 1, 2025, the President addressed concerns raised by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, a Member of Parliament, who alleged that two suspicious flights had arrived at KIA and were suspected of being linked to drug trafficking and money laundering.

The President assured Ghanaians that the government takes such allegations seriously and is committed to transparency and accountability in tackling organized crime.

"Government takes all allegations seriously, and to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation, I have directed all relevant investigative agencies – including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator – to immediately and fully collaborate with the honourable Member of Parliament so he provides all necessary information to investigate the allegations and take all action necessary to expose any drug dealing," Mahama stated.

President Mahama emphasized his administration’s zero tolerance for using Ghana as a transit point or final destination for illegal drugs.

"We will maintain zero tolerance for using Ghana as a transit or final destination for drugs or drug trafficking. The NIB recently made a high-profile drug bust worth $350 million, demonstrating our commitment to the fight against narcotics," he declared.

He further urged security agencies to act swiftly and decisively in cracking down on criminal networks operating within the country’s aviation and financial sectors.

The allegations have sparked national concern, with security analysts and civil society organizations calling for a thorough investigation.

🔹 Parliamentary Debate: Some MPs are expected to push for greater oversight of security at KIA to prevent future occurrences.

🔹 Public Outcry: Social media users have demanded transparency, urging the government to ensure accountability in its findings.

🔹 Opposition’s Response: Critics argue that past administrations failed to curb drug trafficking, urging Mahama’s government to implement stronger measures.
